Man hits and kills teen sisters, then runs from the scene

A man in Texas allegedly hit and killed two teen girls, who were sisters, and then apparently tried to flee from the scene.

The accident happened on Saturday, April 27, at about 9:20 p.m. The girls were riding with three others in a Honda sedan. When they reached the intersection where the access road for northbound I-35 meets Windy Hill Road, a man in a Dodge pickup truck hit their car.

That man is 61 years old. He appears to have run from the scene, perhaps on foot, but the police quickly found him and arrested him. They are still waiting on toxicology results to determine exactly what charges he should get, but he’s facing three charges for causing a crash leading to serious injury and two more for causing death. They took him to the Hays County Jail.

The two girls passed away, and the other three people had to go to a local hospital for treatment. They included the girls’ father, his girlfriend and the girls’ 12-year-old sister.

The man’s bond was set at $250,000.

A tragic case like this shows just how fragile life is. One moment, an entire family was riding in the car, enjoying their time together. The next moment, three of them were seriously injured and two were dead. It happens so fast and it changes everyone’s lives forever.

After this type of crash, it is important for family members to know what rights they may have to financial compensation. It can’t ever bring back what they’ve lost, but it can limit the stress of medical bills, lost wages, funeral costs and more.
