Three individuals have sadly lost their lives in a tragic motor vehicle collision in Texas. Now, their loved ones are left to grieve and to question how their family members’ lives could have been snatched away so soon. Meanwhile, three other individuals suffered serious injuries in the accident. The head-on crash took place on a recent Monday night.
Events leading up to the crash
According to police, the accident occurred when a 51-year-old man was driving along a road and tried to pass multiple cars. He then reportedly crashed into a sport utility vehicle that was coming toward him. Police said either both cars or just one of them ended up catching fire due to the impact of the collision.
The man suffered incapacitating injuries in the crash and was therefore transported to a medical center. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old woman who was driving the sport utility vehicle passed away in the crash scene. Two of her passengers also died at the accident scene, whereas two other minor passengers suffered injuries and were transported to a medical center. Authorities continued to investigate the collision.
Possible legal recourse following these incidents
The surviving loved ones of the three individuals who died in the Texas crash may choose to file wrongful death claims against the man who reportedly caused the accident while trying to pass other cars. Likewise, the family members of the two minors who were injured in the crash may also file personal injury claims on their behalves, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If the plaintiffs can establish liability based upon a showing of negligence, a judge will decide their claims for damages. Successfully litigated claims can result in compensation to cover many of the unfortunate expenses resulting from the crash, such as funeral costs and medical bills.
