The study involved using several metrics, including rates of careless driving and drunk driving, to determine America’s most dangerous state.

The results of the research study

Texas ranked at the top when it came to having the most careless drivers, according to the new study. The state’s rate of pedestrian deaths per capita was found to be a little over two people. Meanwhile, based on the report, speeding was the second-worst category for drivers in Texas. A little over 30% of all fatal car crashes in Texas involved speeding.

The research study additionally revealed that the rate of cyclist deaths per capita in Texas was only 0.23. However, Texas scored poorly in the areas of failing to obey traffic laws and drunk driving. More than 19% of fatal crashes in Texas involved drivers with invalid driver’s licenses. In addition, almost 80% of fatal accidents involved alcohol consumption.

Legal recourse following a Texas crash

If individuals are injured in a Texas collision or lose their loved ones in a crash caused by another person’s negligence, it is within their rights to seek justice through the civil court system. Injured victims may file personal injury claims against the reportedly at-fault party, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Likewise, the surviving loved ones of individuals who are killed in a wreck due to another person’s speeding or distracted driving, for example, may file wrongful death claims. Successfully litigated claims may lead to damage awards to cover resulting hospital bills, funeral costs and other accident-related losses.
