A teenage body’s life has sadly been lost due to a tragic motor vehicle crash in Texas. The accident took place early in the morning on a Saturday. A teenage girl now faces criminal charges in connection with the accident, which police said was the result of reckless driving.

Events leading up to the accident

The recent Texas crash occurred at around 4:49 a.m. Police said a girl, 17, was driving her car in a food mart’s back parking lot, performing car donuts. All of a sudden, she reportedly hit a wire that was supporting a nearby utility pole. Authorities said the car then flipped onto its side.

A boy, 16, who was riding in the car was thrown from it as a result and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a female passenger, 17 was taken to a medical center, where here condition was deemed stable. The driver suffered no injuries in the crash. Police said they discovered open containers of alcohol in the car and therefore arrested the driver. She now faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Legal recourse available following the crash

The surviving loved ones of the boy who died in the Texas crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. In addition, a personal injury claim may be filed on behalf of the female passenger who was potentially injured in the collision. If the arrested driver is convicted on her charge, proof of this conviction may be presented in civil court with the goal of establishing liability for the deadly accident. If the plaintiffs are successful, they may receive damages to cover hospital bills, funeral expenses and other losses stemming from the accident.
