A teenager has sadly been killed in a truck collision in Texas. Meanwhile, three other teenagers have been injured in the crash, which occurred along F.M. 2965 and United States Highway 80. Sometimes, these types of collisions take place due to negligent driver behavior, which is grounds for litigation.
Events leading up to the accident
The recent tragic collision took place on a Tuesday night. Police said that, when they arrived at the scene of the crash, they determined that a semi-truck and a car had collided with each other. A single man was in the truck, and four high schoolers were in the car at the time of the wreck.
One of the high schoolers passed away at the crash scene. However, the three other teenagers survived the accident and were transported to a medical center for the treatment of their injuries. The truck driver suffered no injuries in the crash. Authorities continued to investigate the collision.
How an attorney can help
Police may discover through their investigation that the truck driver caused the Texas accident due to negligent driving. In this situation, the surviving loved ones of the teenager who died in the collision may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking damages. Likewise, personal injury claims may be filed against the truck driver on behalf of the injured teens. However, if police determine that the car driver is the one who caused the crash, then this driver — or the driver’s estate if he or she is the one who died — may face such claims for damages. Successfully fought claims may result in damages to cover burial costs, hospital bills and other related losses.
