One person’s life has sadly been cut short in a Texas pedestrian accident. In addition, seven other people have suffered injuries as a result of the crash. The accident took place at a mud racing event on a recent Monday evening. Sometimes, these types of crashes happen as a result of a driver’s negligence, which is grounds for litigation.
How the unfortunate accident occurred
The tragic pedestrian accident took place at about 6:30 p.m. According to authorities, a man, 21, was driving a car at the mud racing area. However, he reportedly ended up breaking through an area guardrail, entering the crowd and striking three other cars.
Police said eight individuals suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to a medical center. However, one of them died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Two of the surviving victims had injuries that were considered to be critical, whereas the five others’ injuries were not deemed life-threatening. Police said it was not immediately clear why the man who cased the wreck drove through the guardrail.
Potential legal recourse after these incidents
If police determine that the driver’s negligence — such as speeding — caused the accident injuries and death, then the surviving loved ones of the man who passed away in the wreck may choose to file a wrongful death claim against him. In the same manner, the injury victims may decide to file personal injury claims against him, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. If the plaintiffs can establish liability before the Texas civil court hearing their cases, a judge will adjudicate their claims for damages. Successfully fought claims might lead to monetary damages to cover burial costs, hospital bills and other expenses related to the pedestrian accident.
