How the accident happened

The recent Texas collision took place shortly before 5:48 a.m. According to authorities, a semi-truck ended up colliding with a sport utility vehicle near a travel center. One many passed away as a result of the impact of the collision.

Police said that speeding might have been a causal factor in the wreck. The road on which the crash occurred was shut down for hours following the wreck, forcing motorists to utilize alternate routes. Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

How an attorney can help

If Texas police determine that the semi-truck driver caused the accident due to negligent driving, the family members of the man who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking damages. The truck driver’s employer may also be named in the lawsuit. For a judge to decide the claim for damages, liability must be established before the civil court hearing the case. In a successfully fought lawsuit, damages might be awarded to cover burial costs and other losses related to the accident, such as the loss of support for surviving dependents. No amount of money can undo the events leading to the accident, but it may help the deceased victim’s family members to experience a sense of justice in the aftermath of the fatal crash.
